Arabic media is reporting on the participation of activists affiliated with the European Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas support network in a Hamas-organized seminar in Gaza. According a GMBDW translated report by the Palestinian news portal Dunya al-Watan:
TRANSLATED SUMMARY: Hamas’s Refugee Affairs Department has held a workshop in Gaza on 13 April, dedicated to the various options available to the Palestinians is Syria. The workshop was reportedly attended by Hamas’s legal officials, representatives of the various Palestinian factions, representatives of the popular committees for the refugees, researchers and interested parties. Participants of interest included:
- Ali Huweidi (regional coordinator for the London-based Palestinian Return Centre (PRC), part of the Hamas support infrastructure in the UK and close to the UK Muslim Brotherhood)
- Rami Abdu (head of the Geneva-based Euro-Mid Observer for Human Rights, a leader in the Gaza flotilla movement)
- Tarek Hamoud (coordinator of the Action Group for Palestinians of Syria (AGPS) executive director of the PRC)
This workshop was likely related to the ongoing fighting in the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp located near Damascus where we last reported that ISIS was said to control 90% of the camp which it seized from Hamas and other Palestinian factions.
The GMBDW reported in November 2013 on a “Workshop on the situation of Palestinian refugees of Syria” that was held at an Istanbul hotel and which featured the PRC and the AGPS as well as elements of the Turkish Muslim Brotherhood including Bulent Yildrim, head of Turkish charity known as IHH that sponsored the June 2010 Gaza Flotilla.
