On June 21, Zainab Alwani was featured on the Live Fatwa section of Islam Online, the Islamic news portal owned by Youssef Qaradawi. According to her CV, she obtained graduate degrees from the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences (GISS) in Leesburg, Virginia and is working on Ph.D in Usul al-fiqh at International Islamic University, Malaysia. Both institutions are associated with the Global Muslim Brotherhood. The CV says she is a former researcher at the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), currently under investigation by the U.S. government, and teaches Islamic subjects at Johns Hopkins, GISS, and other institutions. She has also been the only female member of the Fiqh Council of North American (FCNA) and probably the Iraqi-born daughter of Dr. Taher Al-Alwani, one of the most important leaders of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood and a former FCNA chairman and President of GISS.
