The publication of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNS) has announced further details on an award dinner held in June where Dr. Jamal Barzinji, the Vice-President of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), was awarded the Faith in Action Award” by the International Center for Religion & Diplomacy (ICRD). According to the ISNA report, also attending the June ICRD dinner were Anwar Ibrahim (former deputy prime minister of Malaysia), former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore (1998-2002), a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) who gave the keynote speech. Also attending was Dr. Barzinji’s wife Suzanne who was praised for her contribution to Dr. Barzinji’s efforts.

Previous posts have reported on the award as well as on the partnership between IIIT, the International Center for Religion & Diplomacy (ICRD), and the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) which, in turn, may have played a role in the creation of a new group known as Americans Muslims for Constructive Engagement (AMCE) whose goal is to see the U.S. Muslim community and the U.S. government “working together constructively in enhancing national security and national interests of the United States of America.” As the post explained, the AMCE leadership is a Who’s Who of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood representing the leadership of virtually the entire U.S Muslim Brotherhood network.
