The first U.S. Muslim Congressman and the leader of the “Jewish Renewal” movement were two of the keynote speakers at the recent 13th annual banquet of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). According to the CAIR website, the banquet was held in Arlington Virginia on november 19 and was attended by over 1000 people. Keynote speakers included Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN), Rabbi Arthur Waskow of the Shalom Center, and Prof. David Cole of Georgetown University Law Center. The 74-year old Rabbi is known for his “progressive” social positions and has been highly critical of Israeli policies although he does not question the legitimacy of the Jewish State. He was also one of three Rabbis who spoke before the national convention of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). Both CAIR and ISNA are part of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood. Professor Cole has been a speaker at other CAIR and ISNA events.
