Islamic media is reporting on an Islamic Unity conference to be held next week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and sponsored by the U.K.-based Ramadhan Foundation. According to the conference report:
Our capital city, Kuala Lumpur, is proud to host the upcoming 2nd International Muslim Unity Convention at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) on 15?16 December 2009. The event is being hosted in partnership between the Ramadhan Foundation UK, Perdana Leadership Foundation and My Events International. The main focus of this event is the 2?days Conference and Exhibition, which will bring Islamic scholars from different countries under one platform to present topics and dialog sessions with the audience on Muslim unity. Confirmed speakers at the Convention include Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Muhammad Umar, Chairman of Ramadhan Foundation, HE Al Sayed Ali Al Hashimi Special Advisor to His Highness President of United Arab Emirates and Shaykh Dr Abdur Rahman al Jarrar Senior Scholar at The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Awqaf Dubai, UAE. Topics that will be discussed at the Convention include Islam & the Media, the role and rights of the Muslim Ummah as well as the Call for Unity.
Many of the featured speakers have various ties to the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood including:

- Sulayman Nyang
- Sayid Hassan Al-Qazwini
Also scheduled to speak is Abdullah bin Bayyah, a prominent member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research which is part of the European Muslim Brotherhood. Also speaking will be Sheikh Salman Al Oudah (aka Salman Al Awda), a Saudi sheikh until recently known to be a sympathizer of Osama Bin Laden.
The Ramadhan Foundation is described as ” a leading Muslim youth organisation in the United Kingdom that is working for peaceful co?existence and dialogue for all communities.” One of the prominent members of the Ramadhan Foundation is Jamal Badawi, a leader in many of the most important organizations of the global Muslim Brotherhood including the Islamic Society of North America, the Council on American Islamic Relations (Canada), the Fiqh Council of North America, the Muslim American Society, and the European Council for Fatwa and Research. As previous posts have noted, recently released documents indicate that he was (and probably still is), a member of the leadership structure of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood. He can be characterized as one of the leading ideologues of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood and has traveled widely all over the world as a representative of the U.S. Muslim community.
