The U.K. Muslim Brotherhood is recommending that British Muslims donate to Haitian earthquaking victims through British charities linked to the global Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas fund-raising. According to an announcement by the Muslim Association of Britain:
The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) today urged British Muslims to donate generously to the victims of Haiti earthquake to alleviate the overwhelming devastation. As an immediate response to the tragedy, leading British Muslim charities (many of them MCB affiliates, and some part of the DEC, such as Muslim Aid, Islamic Relief, Muslim Hands, Human Relief International, Human Appeal and Islamic Help are launching an emergency relief appeal for more than £2,000,000. ”We are deeply saddened by the widespread destruction and loss of life and appeal to fellow Muslims to donate generously to the appeal, so that much needed emergency relief is delivered to the victims”, said Dr. Muhammad Abdul Bari, the Secretary General. The MCB is also requesting mosques throughout the country to make a special appeal on Friday to raise funds and to pray for the victims of the tragedy.
Muslim Aid, Muslim Hands, Human Relief International, and Human Appeal are all members of the Union of Good, a charity coalition headed by global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi and described in a NEFA Foundation report as:
The Union of Good is a coalition of Islamic charities that provides financial support to both the Hamas “social” infrastructure, as well as its terrorist activities. It is headed by global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi, and most of the trustees and member organizations are associated with the global Muslim Brotherhood. The Union of Good was banned by Israel in 2002 and was recently designated a terrorist entity by the United States, although neither Youssef Qaradawi nor any of the Trustees were similarly designated. Despite the fact that action has been taken against some of its member organizations in Europe, many of its other European member organizations continue to operate. Further, the Union of Good itself does not appear to be under investigation in Europe.

As with the UG itself, the U.K. member organizations, their donors, and their leaders are often associated with the global Muslim Brotherhood and are themselves frequently inter-related, sometimes sharing Trustees, banks, and in some cases, using each other to deliver aid and/or donating to each other. The U.K. member organizations appear to also deliver aid in a similar manner, donating to “partner” organizations in the Palestinian Territories, many of which are associated with Hamas and who are responsible for use of the aid money. It is often difficult to understand how the UG member charity money is actually used, as funded projects are described in only general terms.
An earlier post discussed the relationship of Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) to the global Muslim Brotherhood as well as accusations by the Israeli government that the chairty supported Hamas activities in the Palestinian territories. IRW is headquartered in the U.K.
The charity identified above as Islamic Help is known to have participated in a Gaza fund-raising effort known as “Viva Palestina”, associated with far-left U.K politician George Galloway. An earlier post discussed a meeting with Galloway and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyah which took place following the arrival of a Viva Palestina convoy in Gaza.
The MCB is a U.K. umbrella group dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Association of Britain is a member of the MCB and a long-standing U.K Muslim Brotherhood organization.
