In our post titled “Austrian Muslim Brotherhood Youth Organization Members In Spanish Mosque Altercation”, we wrote as follows:
The MJO is known as the youth organization of the Islamic Community of Austria (Islamischen Glaubensgemeinschaft in Österreich) and is a member of the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organizations (FEMYSO).
The source for this statement was incorrect. The correct source is:
“Muslims in Austria: Integration through Participation in Austrian Society“ Lise Jamila Abid, Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs, Vol. 26, No. 2, August 2006, Page 276 which states:
The “Muslimische Jugend Österreich (Muslim Youth Austria) association was founded with the objective of offering cultural and leisure time activities, sports events and vacation camps for girls and boys. The association is also a member of FEMYSO, the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organizations, and part of the international boy- and girl-scouts’ association.
However, the MJO has written to the GMBDW claiming that their organization is not a member of FEMYSO. Since FEMYSO is not known to publish a list of its member organizations, we have no way of confirming or denying the MJO’s FEMYSO status. Accordingly, we are changing the text of the above post to read:
The MJO is known as the youth organization of the Islamic Community of Austria (Islamischen Glaubensgemeinschaft in Österreich) and was reported by an Austrian research institute in 2006 to be a member of FEMYSO, the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organizations (FEMYSO).
We also note that further research indicates that an Austrian news source reported in 2008 that the MJO is also affiliated with the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY). WAMY is a Saudi Arabian youth organization that is closely tied to the global Muslim Brotherhood. We are adding this information to the corrected post.
