In a case that is sure to anger many Americans, Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced Friday that it has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Justice (DOJ) for failing to respond to its request for public records under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 11-01121)). The documents relate to a decision by Attorney General Eric Holder’s minions not to prosecute the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and its co-founder Omar Ahmad, who has been linked by federal investigators to the terrorist group Hamas which controls the Gaza Strip in Israel. The decision not to prosecute reportedly was made over the objections of special agents of the FBI and prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Dallas, Texas. Documents released in the Holy Land Trial have revealed that the founders and current leaders of CAIR were part of the Palestine Committee of the Muslim Brotherhood as well as identifying the organization itself as being part of the US. Brotherhood. A recent post discussed an interview with the Deputy leader of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood in which he confirms a relationship between his organization and CAIR. Investigative research posted on GMBDW had determined that CAIR had it origins in the U.S. Hamas infrastructure and CAIR and its leaders have a long history of defending almost all individuals accused of terrorism by the US. government, frequently calling such prosecutions a “war on Islam.” In 2009, a US federal judge ruled “The Government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA and NAIT with HLF, the Islamic Association for Palestine (“IAP”), and with Hamas.”” The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) along with CAIR are part of the US Muslim Brotherhood.
Discussion
With Eric Holder, is there a distinction between his politics and his ideology? While he is beholding to CAIR and other groups for political favours and connections, his own ideology, which he shares with Mr Obama, prevents him from seeing terrorists as anything but “freedom fighters,” the reason he lobbied (successfully) for terrorist pardons during the Clinton Administration. The FBI may be wary of any connection with CAIR, but that is not true with the DOJ as a whole.
