Gulf media is reporting on the continuing criticism of the Muslim Brotherhood by the chief of police of Dubai. According to a report in The National, General Tamim has this time said that the Muslim Brotherhood is using social media to attack the UAE:
Mar 9, 2012 People linked to the Muslim Brotherhood have begun attacking the UAE through social media, the chief of Dubai Police says. “There are some in the UAE who are in direct contact with the Muslim Brotherhood and are receiving directions from them,” Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim said yesterday. “But the UAE … is rising against them to defend the country.” Gen Tamim said in a post on Twitter yesterday that “since Muslim Brotherhood has ‘become a state’, anyone advocating its cause is considered a foreign agent”. The Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party won the largest number of seats in Egypt’s first post-revolution elections. This week, Dubai Police arrested the general manager of the Ras Al Khaimah Holy Quran Foundation for alleged sedition. Saleh Al Dhufairi, believed to be a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, was arrested for “promoting ideas, whether in speech, writing or any other means, that cause sedition and harm national unity and social peace”, police said.
An earlier post discussed a report that the Dubai police chief had threatened to arrest Global Muslim Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi who criticized the UAE for revoking the visas of Syrians demonstrating against the regime in Damascus.
