U.S. media is reporting that a top aid to Egyptian President Morsi bass called the Holocaust “a myth.” According to a Fox News report:
January 29, 2013 FoxNews.com A top deputy of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi calls the Holocaust a myth, part of a troubling pattern, according to the Simon Weisenthal Center. (AP) HAIFA, ISRAEL – A key figure in Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi’s government called the Holocaust a hoax cooked up by U.S. intelligence operatives and claimed the 6 million Jews who were killed by Nazis simply moved to the U.S.The outrageous claims, by Fathi Shihab-Eddim, a senior figure close to President Morsi who is now responsible for appointing the editors of all state-run Egyptian newspapers, came as the world marked Holocaust Remembrance Day on Jan. 27, and also as the U.S. continues to assess its relationship with the increasingly radical Arab state. ‘The myth of the Holocaust is an industry that America invented,’ Shihab-Eddim said, leaving no room for doubt that the Egyptian government — like Iran’s — has at the very least significant elements that deny one of history’s best documented genocides. ‘U.S. intelligence agencies in cooperation with their counterparts in allied nations during World War II created it [the Holocaust]to destroy the image of their opponents in Germany, and to justify war and massive destruction against military and civilian facilities of the Axis powers, and especially to hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the atomic bomb,’ Shihab-Eddim said. The ludicrous claims were especially worrisome to Israeli experts who have been watching since the Muslim Brotherhood Morsi administration took over the Egyptian government in elections last summer, following the ouster of Hosni Mubarak, who maintained good relations with Israel. Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center in New York, said Shihab-Eddin’s comments were as troubling as they were ridiculous. ‘Fathi goes on to claim that the 6 million Jews all really moved to the United States during the war (and oddly no one noticed) and that the number of Jews killed in the war was about the number who died in traffic accidents,’ Greenfield wrote in Frontpagemag.com.

Last week, Forbes.com has posted an article titled “Egypt’s Morsi Stuns U.S. Senators In Meeting With ‘Jews-Control-Media Slur” that looks at the history and reporting on the anti-Semitic and anti-American statements of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi. The Forbes piece also notes that the Morsi statements were first reported by the GMBDW in September when we reported that an organization known as Secure America Now had released an information packet titled “The Truth about Mohammed Morsi” which presented a fully sourced compendium of statements as well as other information about the Egyptian president. The report begins with an introduction characterizing Dr. Morsi’s statements and other facts covered in further detail later on in the publication:
- “Resistance is the correct and only way to free the land from the filth of the Jews”
- His words are reflective of his contempt for Jews, The United States, and the State of Israel.
- Dr. Morsi joined the Muslim Brotherhood while living in the United States
- Two of his sons were arrested at anti-Israel, anti-United States demonstrations in Egypt
- Dr. Morsi has repeatedly denounced Egypt’s treaty with Israel.
- Dr. Morsi is an unabashed supporter of Hamas
- Dr. Morsi believes the 9/11 terrorists have not been identified.
- Dr. Morsi has repeatedly defended the Sudanese President al-Bashir who has committed genocide against the people in Darfur.
- Dr. Morsi has pledged to work for the release of Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman, a militant Islamist preacher imprisoned in the United States for planning the 1993 World Trade Center bombing
In one of Dr. Morsi’s most egregious statements, he said in 2004 that the “Quran has established that the Jews are the ones in the highest degree of enmity towards Muslims” and that “there is no peace with the descendants of the apes and pigs”. Read the rest here.
A post from last week reported that that seven U.S. senators had a meeting with Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi during which he implied that he was the victim of an American media run by the Jews. A post from earlier this week reported that Morsi had complained to U.S. senators that anti-semitic comments he has made are “being taken out of context.” An earlier post had reported that the U.S. government was asking President Morsi to repudiate comments he made three years ago referring to Jews as apes and pigs” and urging Egyptians to “‘nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred’ for Jews and Zionists.”. Israeli media has reported that the Obama Administration had said Morsi’s comments were “welcome but not enough to ease concerns about anti-Jewish and anti-Israel comments that the Islamist president made before he took office.”
