In an example of the global reach of the Saudi Islamist organization, Chinese media is reporting that the Muslim World League has held an international conference in Taipei, Taiwan. Accoring to the report:
May 1, 2105 Taiwan has nearly 60,000 Muslim residents. In recent years, it has been working to attract more Muslim tourists. And recently, it was selected as one of the world’s top 10 travel destinations for Muslims. In mid-April, Taiwan received another vote of confidence when the Muslim World League, which is headquartered in Saudi Arabia, held an international symposium in Taipei. The meeting addressed contemporary challenges facing Muslim minorities. The secretary-general of the league spoke with CNA on the sidelines of the symposuim and said he was very happy to see that Muslims enjoy religious freedom and rights in Taiwan.
The GMBDW reported at the end of March that the MWL had been tasked with reorganizing Italy’s Muslim community.
The Muslim World League was established in 1962 as a means for the propagation of Saudi “Wahabbi” Islam. Muslim Brothers played an important role in its founding and the League has always been strongly associated with the Brotherhood. US government officials have testified that MWL has been linked to supporting Islamic terrorist organizations globally and the organization has a long history of anti-Semitism.
